Set Up Your Family

Every family eats differently. Your spouse might be gluten-free, your teenager might be going vegan, and your 4-year-old might refuse anything green. Set up your household once, and RunMyKitchen adapts every recipe and suggestion to fit everyone.

RunMyKitchen household settings with family member profiles and dietary preferences
  1. Go to Your Household

Tap Your Household from the main menu. This is where you manage everyone who eats at your table.

  2. Add a family member

Tap Add Member and enter their name. That’s the only required field — everything else is optional but makes the AI dramatically smarter.

  3. Set their allergies

Select from common allergens — nuts, dairy, shellfish, eggs, soy, wheat — or type a custom one. Allergies are treated as hard restrictions. The AI will never suggest a recipe that contains an allergen for anyone in your household.

  4. Choose dietary preferences

Pick from presets like gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, keto, or halal. You can select multiple. These shape which recipes the AI recommends.

  5. Add picky eating notes

This is the secret weapon. Type anything in plain language:

    • “Won’t eat mushrooms or onions”
    • “Only likes pasta with butter, nothing else on it”
    • “Hates spicy food”
    • “Will eat carrots but only raw, not cooked”

The AI reads these notes and factors them into every suggestion. Be specific — the more detail, the better it works.

  6. Repeat for each person

Add everyone who regularly eats at home. You can always add, edit, or remove members later.

When you ask for recipe ideas or generate a meal plan, the AI cross-references every household member’s allergies, dietary preferences, and picky eating notes. A recipe only gets suggested if it works for everyone — or if the AI can offer a simple modification (like serving the sauce on the side).

  • Each family member gets their own allergy, diet, and preference profile
  • Allergies are hard blocks — the AI never ignores them
  • Picky eating notes accept plain language and get surprisingly specific
  • The AI checks every household member before suggesting a recipe
