How Shopping Works
Most meal kit services ship pre-portioned boxes from a central warehouse. You get what they send, from wherever they send it. RunMyKitchen does the opposite.
Your store, not a warehouse
Section titled “Your store, not a warehouse”When you tap “Order on Instacart,” your ingredients come from a real grocery store near you — the same Sprouts, Publix, Wegmans, or Aldi you’d drive to yourself. Same shelves, same brands, same prices.
This matters for three reasons:
- Freshness. Your produce comes from a store that restocks daily, not a fulfillment center that ships across the country.
- Choice. You pick the store. You pick the brands. If you want organic from Sprouts instead of conventional from Target, that’s your call.
- Price transparency. You see the exact same prices Instacart shows for that store. No markup, no “convenience premium” buried in ingredient costs.
How ingredients get matched
Section titled “How ingredients get matched”Your meal plan lists generic ingredients: “2 chicken breasts,” “1 bunch cilantro,” “14 oz coconut milk.” When you send the list to Instacart, each ingredient is matched to an actual product at your selected store — a specific brand, size, and SKU.
You review every match before checkout. Don’t want that brand of coconut milk? Swap it. Need a larger pack of chicken? Change the quantity. The cart is yours to edit.
You can also save a default store in your account settings so every order goes straight to the store you prefer — no selection step required.
Why this model
Section titled “Why this model”Meal kit companies like Blue Apron charge a premium because they run their own supply chain — warehouses, packaging lines, cold shipping. You’re paying for their logistics, not better food.
RunMyKitchen has no warehouse, no inventory, no shipping operation. The AI does the planning. Instacart does the delivery. Your local store does what it already does — stock groceries.
How we make money
Section titled “How we make money”We earn a small referral fee from Instacart when you order through RunMyKitchen. That’s it.
- No ads.
- No data selling.
- No premium tier that locks basic features behind a paywall.
The referral fee covers our costs and keeps the product free to use. You pay the same Instacart prices you’d pay ordering directly — we don’t add margin on top.
